Folclorista, integrante del conjunto Cuncumén desde 1960. Después del Golpe de Estado, vivió en Suecia y grabó como solista dos discos marcados por el espíritu de resistencia política. Regresó a Chile en 1992, año desde el cual se mantiene en la dirección de Cuncumén.
