La compañía de teatro Ictus se fundó en 1955 y estaba conformada por integrantes del Teatro de la Universidad Católica. Posteriormente, este grupo decidió separarse de la universidad por tener diferencias con la política teatral de esa institución, estableciéndose como compañía independiente en 1959. Entre sus integrantes podemos destacar a Claudio Di Girolamo, Germán Becker, Julio Retamal, Paz Irarrázabal, Carlos Cruz-Coke, Chicha Ossa, Grimanesa Locket, Mónica Echeverría, Irene Domínguez, Sonia Azócar, de los miembros fundadores; Nissim Sharim, Jaime Celedón, Julio Yung; actores provenientes del Teatro Universitario de Concepción como Delfina Guzmán, Nelson Villagra, Shenda Román, Jaime Vadell y Jorge Gajardo por mencionar algunos
